Octodad, like any sushi, got stale fast. However, Fangamer once again saves the day by distilling this silly game into a nice article of clothing any Mr. Rodgers cosplaying fool would want to get in their closet. The Octodad Cardigan is totally dad style clothing. It's a cardigan for goodness sake. The button down dress shirt of sweaters. You don't get much more dad than that. Unless it was something from the Hard Rock Cafe or Disney Store and that's too far. Seriously, have some standards. |
Since we are already on top-half apparel, this Whispering Rock shirt from Fangamer is good. Getting back to their not-so-obvious design roots, this shirt is subtle enough to be cool on it's own. The Bright colors and rustic font that totally says fake summer camp is right up my ally. Plus, Psychonauts is one of my favorite games so that helps. And psychic powers are cool too. It's totally a win-win. |
Yeah I might have put this one on a list before, but in a fit of birthday mirth, I threw my favorite tank into a fire on a beach. It's my year so I can do what I want, right? I need a replacement because I really liked that Pokemon Pewter Gym tank and I totally promise to not throw it in a fire again. |
The final piece of Fangamer apparel comes in the form of Ness's hat. Looking sharp and calling it Hatness, I especially love the worn variant. My two hats in current circulation are equally worn through natural causes, but just don't fit me anymore. Literally one hat has become too big (how does that happen) and the other is just kinda gross with old coffee grounds and sweat stains. The Earthbound symbol really pops on the Postgame, worn looking version, so it's time to upgrade. |
My walls are pretty well covered at this point thanks to art purchased from Fangamer, but I will make room for this last print. The Mettaton poster, showcasing everyone's favorite Undertale star, Mettaton. I'd like to showcase this poster in my house somewhere. The way the poster references the low-fi art of the game and still manages to elevate it without losing the original simplicity is superb. I want it. |
The new Star Wars is coming out shortly and in order to scratch two itches, the Lego Poe's X-Wing is something I'd like. A little too pricey for me to pick up on a whim and also, who the hell is Poe? Regardless, it's a cool looking black and orange X-Wing with a cute little BB-8. |
Next on the list is my favorite item yet, but most unobtainable. A European website has an ugly Sonic holiday sweater available. Being that the price is high even in Euros and shipping to the US would tack on a Mega Drive's weight in pounds sterling I can't actually ask for this. A big but though, the American ugly sweater market has almost completely dried up. Maybe it's time to refresh our national stock that in thirty years thrift store can once again be ripe with unsightly, thick-knit beasts. |
Almost forgot to put this one on here. The Amazon Fire Tablet can be acquired for 35 dollars at least during the Retailering and that is crazy! I want one simply because its cheap tech. I don't even use the tablet we currently have unless I'm playing a Telltale game. So this is a purchase that I will be making for myself (please don't buy me one, although it would be super funny to have multiple) purely out of whimsy. |
The last item on my list is a bit of a curve-ball. Of course it's video game related but it's ultra hipstery. iam8bit has an impressive offering of video game sound tracks on vinyl. I don't even know how to spell vinyl that's how much I care about collecting them, but...some of the records are colored. And the sleeve art is real sharp looking. But I'd need to buy a record player and...well...I'm just not ready to do that yet. The records are limited in quantity so even if I'm not comfortable with going down the audiophile rabbit hole I wouldn't complain if I received a record or two. The Uncharted Collection would be my top pick since I really like that score. |
